The Ace Poker League (APL) TAIPEI has kicked off its 10-day schedule at Asia Poker Arena, the heart of poker tournaments in Taipei, Taiwan.
The series began on June 7 with Event #1, the APL Kick Off. With an entry fee of NT$10,000 and a guaranteed prize pool of NT$3 million, the APL Kick Off spans three days. On this day, two Day 1 flights, Day1A and Day1B, were held at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. local time, respectively.
Day1A recorded 95 entries, including player Jaegeol Cho (Watch), while Day1B saw 98 entries, featuring player Seungmin Yoo (Louie).
Only 15% of players from each flight advanced to Day 2 and made it into the money. As a result, 14 players advanced from Day1A, and 15 players secured their spots from Day1B.
The second event of the day was Event #2, the High Roller Single Day. With an entry fee of NT$25,000, this event attracted 43 entries, generating a prize pool of NT$928,800. The payouts began from 7th place.
In this event, Korean player Wooseok Kim clinched the victory after defeating fellow Korean player Seongu Kang in heads-up play. Wooseok Kim earned NT$273,950 in prize money and took home the winner’s trophy.
Korean players maintained their momentum into the night. In Event #5, NLH Turbo, which started at 8 p.m., Hyunsup Kim (Dipper) emerged victorious. He defeated Malaysian player Beng Hong Ker in heads-up play to secure his second APL trophy—his first being from the 2022 APL City Series Main Event—and NT$100,398 in prize money.
Three other winners were crowned in different events held that day. In Event #3, Pot Limit Omaha Hi 5 Cards, Swedish player Fredrik Haugen took the trophy. Event #4, Limit Triple Draw 2-7, was won by French player Antoine, and the trophy for Event #6, Hyper Turbo Win The Button, went to Mancheng Hoi from Macau.
On Day 2 of the series, June 8, two more APL Kick Off Day 1 flights will be held, along with the second High Roller Single Day event. Additionally, the Queens event, exclusively for female players, will be held as a single-day event.
